Since 1967, JKR has held an annual tournament to test and showcase the art of Shindo Jinen Ryu. Tournaments are great opportunities for students to see how well their karate education is developing. Typically, the JKR tournament will host three events: kata (forms), kumite (sparring), and kobudo (weapon forms). In addition, participants from other schools and styles also attend the JKR tournaments allowing for a cooperation and networking between all students of karate.
